Exclusive Interview with Rob Cross
Target’s World Champion Rob Cross moved up to joint-second in the Premier League with a stunning performance in Sheffield.
The world number three overcame play-off rival Michael Smith 7-5 at the FlyDSA Arena, averaging 106.26 and hitting almost two-thirds of his darts at doubles.
The key period in the game came at 3-2 down, when “Voltage” fired in four consecutive legs in 50 darts to take control of the tie.
The result moves him to level with Smith in the table, but behind on leg difference, while Target teammate Raymond van Barneveld is left with work to do, following defeats to Daryl Gurney (7-3) and Peter Wright (7-2).
The action switches to the Netherlands next week with a double-header in Rotterdam, where Cross will play twice on Wednesday night against Gurney and Gary Anderson, and “Barney” looks to return to winning ways against Simon Whitlock.
