Premier League Podcast: A Chat with RVB following his 7-1 display
Target’s Rob Cross and Raymond van Barneveld put in dominant displays in Glasgow to keep up their strong challenges in the Premier League.
Both men won their games 7-1 with impressive averages to make sure they are in the playoff spots, following the first seven weeks of the tournament.
Five-time World Champion “Barney” averaged 99.76 and hit more than half of his darts at doubles, as he overcame world number two Peter Wright to move into the top four in the table.
The Dutchman will take a three match unbeaten run into next week’s clash with league leader Michael van Gerwen in Belfast.
“It was tough to play Peter in Glasgow,” said the 2014 League winner, “so I was thinking I had to put him under pressure.”
“That’s a massive win and of course I’m happy now; I know I’m going to be in Rotterdam for two nights [following Judgement Night].”
Current World Champ Rob Cross, meanwhile, averaged in excess of 102 and only missed three darts at doubles in his 7-1 thrashing of Gerwyn Price, having lost the opening leg to the former UK Open finalist.
“Voltage” now has five consecutive wins in the league and is only two points away from van Gerwen, ahead of his meeting with Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney on home soil in his next match.
Cross will now head to Leverkusen for the first European Tour event of the year, The European Darts Open, this weekend – where he will join fellow #TeamTarget players Adrian Lewis, Dave Chisnall and Alan Norris, with the action streamed live on PDC TV and via bookmakers’ websites worldwide.
