We have signed yet another world champion, Raymond Van Barneveld. The 5 Times World Champion will exclusively use and promote all Target Darts products bearing his name and image until 2022. Raymond is one of the biggest players on the world stage, and this exclusive partnership and product range celebrates the start of another winning partnership for us.
The 50-year old will use the exclusive new Target RVB equipment for the first time at the World Series of darts event in Shanghai. Made to his exact specification, his playing dart has been developed in close partnership with our industry renowned and innovative R&D team to produce excellent results for Raymond’s unique throw. He will be using a specially branded RVB 95, which are 95% Tungsten with a trapezoidal front end grip and contrasting radial grooves at the rear. Coated in black Titanium Nitride, and armed with new Firestorm point, Pro Grip shaft and Ghost flight.
We announced the signing this morning at the exclusive press launch in the Hotel Den Haag – Nootdorp, his home town. Joined by Jacques Nieuwlaat, MC and Darts Commentator for RTL7, a host of Dutch media and press, friends and family.
Barney is the 5th world champion to join our stellar cast of sponsored darts players: also on the books are the two-time world champion Adrian Lewis, Stephen “The Bullet” Bunting, the 1983 world champion Keith Deller and of course, the one and only 16 Time World Champion, Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor.
Barney, who took his first initial step into the darts world In 1984 when he won the Rotterdam Open, says ‘The reason I signed with Target is an inner feeling I have to take this step. Target is the perfect next step for me to take in my career and I plan to continuously succeed whilst working with them’
Barney added: ‘You have to dream where you want to go in life and what your next step should be from here, I had many dreams seeing myself lifting trophies and with Target I am going to do all I can do to achieve that. My goal is to win a 6th World title.’
